CUMBRIA EQUALITY & HUMAN RIGHTS FORUM

The Equality and Human Rights Forum (EHRF) brings together local groups at a county level three times a year, and includes all three strands of BME, Disability and LGBT, as well as the wider voluntary sector.

The EHRF, supported by AWAZ Cumbria, provides:

  • cross strand support, sharing of issues and possible cross strand work
  • strand specific support
  • support and training to build capacity

This is a sustainable way to allow Equality and Human Rights in the voluntary sector to be discussed. Issues raised from this Forum can be taken forward through the Cumbria Third Sector Executive, and projects, events and trainings may spring from it.

AWAZ Cumbria is looking for 10 to 15 representatives from each strand, making a total of 30 to 45 from currently underrepresented groups (URG). AWAZ has secured funding from the Big Lottery to support their participation by covering their travel expenses to the meetings which will take place in the North, South and West of the county.
